Alone in the neighborhood by wiredgear Alone in the neighborhood by wiredgear
edit: Updated version here [link]

During the days when I was in Iraq, there were times when we had to patrol on foot rather than being in our strykers. Depending on the time and place, patrolling would feel as if we were the only ones here in existence. It can be so quiet and isolated it keeps you thinking "what the fuck, I better have my eye's peeled and wide open!". The thought of being attacked/ambushed is not a good feeling at all.

Quick speedy for fun. I am trying out some new techniques. I will add more details in the future along with some other old speedies.

PS CS3. Intous3/Cintiq.

Wow...
My cousin was telling me a bit about that feeling. You've demonstrated what he explained to me very well in this piece! The composition of the tall buildings in the background make them seem small which helps the mood! And I love all the dark colors! Epic work! Insta'fav

Yeah, it's a feeling that can't be experienced unless your in a similar life and death situation I'd say. It's really a horrible feeling. Thx for the fav :)

It sucks when you know your enemies have a clear advantage on you. Wish our military have those robots from MGS4 to handle these types of situations.

I love the atmosphere in this one. It feels like they are in the suburbs of a great metropolis, searching the streets and alleyways just waiting for that ambush!

Really nice speedpaint I must say. As others previously said, I'd like some more details, but your already working on that I see. The only thing I reckon you could redo is the lit part of the street, it feels a bit out of colour and It kinda puts an awkward centerpiece between the two soldiers. What do you say?

By the way, how is the Stryker? I mean, I'm quite interested in modern warfare and all that...

By the way

The stryker is one awesome armored combat vehicle. It's pretty fast, I remember the driver of my squad hitting 70-90 mph with it. It can hold up to 11-12 soldiers and is very quick and effective when deploying out quickly through the back. You can google it for images and more info. It's awesome.

You sure put you're personal experience and influences in these images don't you?
Jesus it must be scary to go around like that wide open like that. I would need new Trousers if that was me.

Really nice though, well done and I love these paintings you make. Full of mood and a "chaotic" feel by the scribbly parts which enhances the mood even more.
Awesome.
