You guys wanted to see more details so here it is :) I put in a few extra hours into this. You can see the old version to compare. I'll repost the original description from the old one here.

"During the days when I was in Iraq, there were times when we had to patrol on foot rather than being in our strykers. Depending on the time and place, patrolling would feel as if we were the only ones here in existence. It can be so quiet and isolated it keeps you thinking "what the fuck, I better have my eye's peeled and wide open!". The thought of being attacked/ambushed is not a good feeling at all.

Quick speedy for fun. I am trying out some new techniques. I will add more details in the future along with some other old speedies.

PS CS3. Intous3/Cintiq. "

I would like to thank everyone who has commented and faved my previous works. Lately I haven't been on much to thank everyone back.

I hope you guys like this one. Oh and I was inspired by the chief for the helmet design.

Cool image. I've heard of stories very similar to yours, and adding that to a painting really adds some strong emotions. Also seeing that you were in Iraq, thanks for serving man.

I love your detail. For me personally these hit home. Also I can't help but admire the spin forward in time of the standard issuance.

Bad Ass ; )! Great design, you did an awesome job finishing it up. You really have taken your art to a new level : ). I really like the hose on the head piece - how it connects to the chest plate, cool idea.

Hiya :p

Man eveytime I see something like that I can't help but to think Why I'm not training to reach such a good level (one day I will ! maybe ...).

But a little thing appear strange to me, the soldier in the back ... his right leg ... looks kind of strange don't you think, especially his foot. It's not like he's starting to walk but ... it feels funny when I look at it.

Maybe it's just me. Anyway keep up this way ! You're one of the best !

Thx, I saw what you meant so I changed the right leg a bit. I suck at anatomy, especially in perspective and movement.

Cool! 1-25 SBCT or with 3 SBCT 2ID?

If it was 1-25 "Lancers" we were your relief in Mosul with the 172nd SBCT "Arctic Wolves"(now re-flagged 1-25 "Lancers", funny how that happens... Happened in early 2007)

1-25 SBCT. A company Apache's 1/5 IN :) 3rd platoon " The fighting cocks" hehe. Took a bit to remember but It's been a while now. We we're stationed at Tal'Afar, not too far a way from Mosul.

Sounds about right. Yeah, were your replacement brigade. I don't think we sent anyone to Tal'Afar until later on. We showed up about AUG05 or so.

ah yeah, you guys must have been our replacement then :) Hows things over there anyways? Everytime our platoon headed to mosul, we always encountered firefights, not sure if it has cooled down at this point. Hated that place. Tal'afar in the other hand was a bit more stable in action. We had our moments there but much more safer than mosul. Oh well, glad i'm out of the shit hole.

Mosul really calmed down after a while. In fact, they've closed every FOB but Marez and turned it over to Iraqi forces completely now. Mosul is far enough North that the Kurds do have a significant influence, and that really stabilized it considerably after the latest series of elections. Not perfect, but compared to a few years ago... You get the picture!

Its always good to be out of the shit holes! Some are worse than others!
